Popular iGaming software developer Pragmatic Play has been quite popular in the recent past with its array of video slots based on Ancient Greek mythology. And the developers are back at it yet again with Spartan King.
Based on the story of King Leonidas of Sparta, the 5-reel 4-row title with 40 paylines sees the players try to defend the revered ruler and win some riches along the way. Some of the game’s valuable symbols include a sword, helmet, a hydria, ships, and a soldier wielding a sword.
Players that land five premium symbols on a single line can win up to 7.5x the current stake. The King serves as the in-game Wild and multiplies the wager up to 20x for a five-of-a-kind, while the golden Shield icon covers a 2×2 grid and can substitute any symbol for extra points during the base game.
Players must land at least three bonus symbols to activate the free spins mode and the round awards 12 extra spins. Any shield appearing during the bonus round amplifies the stake up to 25-times.
Commenting on the release, Pragmatic Play’s Chief Business Development Officer, Yossi Barzely said, “Spartan King transports players to the heat of battle with the intention of defending the king and earning rewards for the valiant effort. We continue to produce high-volatile titles with a keen eye on creating engaging and immersive gameplay, and we’re delighted to launch Spartan King”.
Spartan King is available on a range of devices and buy-ins range between £/€0.20 and £/€100 per spin. Despite being a high-volatile title, Spartan King triggers multipliers quite often, which is quite rare, even borderline bizarre. And the RTP is surprisingly good too, rated at 96.6%.
Spartan King features eight pay symbols in total and they all match the theme quite well. The game’s highlight is undoubtedly the multiplier wild, while the free spins round plays a critical role in triggering the larger wins.
Spartan King has the correct mix of characteristic features native to Ancient Greek video slots and the designers have done a wonderful job of getting the details right. Pragmatic Play has ushered in the festive season with Spartan King and its predecessor, Christmas Carol Megaways, and both titles have been well-received.
The developers have had a keen eye out for global expansion in the last few weeks and a series of commercial deals cement the company’s commitment to reaching out to the punters on a global scale.
Pragmatic Play recently signed a deal with Croatian sports betting brand Pin Projekt, sharing its entire portfolio with the WWin brand. Other notable partnerships include a deal with Nordic operator Kindred Group and Venezuelan service provider Triple.com.ve, further expanding its foothold in the Latin American market.
